Effective Personal Branding Through Social Media

Article by Charley Finley

Social media has hit the scene and it is not leaving any time soon. A good plan for initiating a strong bond between you and your customers involves promoting your products by creating a personal brand. This article will help you to understand that social media can be effectively utilized to build up your personal brand.Quality is More Important Than Quantity. If you look closely, you will observe that many businesses and blog owners are in competition to get the most followers and fans. Even though it is a very good thing to have a large list of followers, but this is not the only thing that should interest you. For instance, if you run a B2B business, do not get upset when you see only a few Twitter followers in comparison to others. The quality of your followers is more essential than the actual number that you have. This rule is the same for all social media platform, whether it is LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook. The moment you get lost in the ‘war of numbers’, you lose much of your valuable time. Be laser focused in your approach. Ensure that you are the only one focusing on your target group. Get rid of the fluff. Make sure that you have the best audience available. Step by Step Always Wins: Creating a brand for yourself via social media doesn’t happen overnight. Nothing happens overnight; everybody knows that. It is important to take one step at a time while you take stock of your target market because you need to understand their responses before you can really move forward well. Being hasty will back-fire and may result in harming your reputation too. Make sure everyone involved in your team understands it, and sees it as a valuable business tool that has to be used responsibly. Your steps should be small and well planned so that you will have enough time to really make sound decisions and focus on the actions that will help you do the things that will get you to where you want to go.Be Smart: Your approach to social media needs to be highly smart, because when you’re using social media on a large scale, you won’t be able to control everything. If you’re running a big company, it wouldn’t be possible for you to monitor and control the social activity of each employee. Although you can have systems setup that would inform your social media users on critical issues, your main guiding force should be the ‘be smart’ motto. Rising above the others in social media and strengthening your personal brand is something that requires both brains and brawns, so make sure you’re having a balanced approach towards everything. Last, make it a point to utilize social media channels to help your audience and provide useful content.
